Asbestos Cancer Lung Related

The term “asbestos” has been given to six different types of minerals that have been used in different kinds of building materials for many decades. These materials are deadly, and have been named as cancer lung related. Knowing if you have been in contact with this silent killer is the first step in recognizing symptoms that may be related to lung cancer from this material.

Asbestos is naturally present in almost two-thirds of the earth’s crust. The leading country with natural asbestos mines is Russia. The United States also has many natural asbestos mines, but intentional mining was ceased in 2002 when it was heavily linked to mesothelioma, a type of lung cancer.

Why is asbestos such a popular mineral for building materials? Asbestos has an innate resistance to heat and fire. Furthermore, it has electricity conducting properties. Asbestos carries insulation properties, also. It is virtually indestructible by any biological or heat process. Asbestos fibers can mix with other building materials, such as cement, making these products stronger and fire-retardant.

Although many countries have ceased the intentional mining of asbestos, there still is a threat of asbestos exposure. Due to demolition and remodeling work of aged structures, construction workers are still at a high risk of exposure to asbestos cancer lung related. The asbestos still lurks in old vinyl flooring and roofing materials. Thousands of construction workers die each year. It is expected that thousands more will die within the next ten years due to past exposure to the silent killer.

Any person who has been employed as an assembly or packaging line is also at risk for asbestos cancer lung related. Thousands of men and women who worked in these types of factories before 1980 may have been exposed without even knowing about it.

Asbestos cancer lung related can take up to thirty years to form after the initial contact. Symptoms, when developed, can include chest pain, excessive coughing, fatigue, and trouble breathing. Some symptoms can be very minor, and are often disregarded. Knowing if you have been previously exposed will make these symptoms more recognizable.

Asbestos cancer lung related is medically broken down into four stages. The initial stage is where the tumor is found in the lining of the lung. The cancer has not yet spread to the lymph nodes. There can be few, if any symptoms at this time.

During the second stage, the cancer has spread to the chest walls or esophagus. Also, lymph nodes in the chest can be affected in this stage of asbestos cancer lung related.

In stage three, the cancer has spread to the lining of the heart. Lymph nodes outside of the chest are possibly affected at this time, also.

The fourth and final stage is when the cancer has metastasized. It is probable that the cancer has spread to other organs throughout the body.

Knowing facts about where asbestos is present can be a good tool to recognize if you are experiencing symptoms of asbestos cancer lung related. Early detection is a key factor in surviving this silent killer.
